The normal operation of the universal joint is the premise to ensure the normal operation of the production. The cost of the universal joint is high, the bearing part (cross shaft) is damaged quickly, and the damaged joint unit is difficult to repair, so it can only be scrapped and replaced. The new coupling takes more time and has a greater impact on the continuity of production operations. 

Therefore, the maintenance of the universal coupling is very critical, and the following maintenance regulations are specially formulated:

1. When the universal joint is in continuous production, the bearing part of the cross shaft is lubricated once a month, and the spline shaft is lubricated every three months.

     2. For the universal coupling in operation, check regularly according to the actual operation of the equipment:

      (1) Is there any abnormal noise;

      (2) Whether the cross bag has axial movement;

      (3) Whether the radial runout is normal;

      (4) Whether the connecting bolts are loose or not, tighten them regularly.

     3. The universal joints in normal operation should be overhauled every three months. The items checked are:

    (1) Check the surface wear of the cross pin shaft journal, the outer ring of the bearing and the short cylindrical roller, measure the radial clearance, and observe whether there are indentations, cracks, etc. on the contact surface.

  (2) Whether the spline shaft slides flexibly. When the spline teeth are worn or the fit clearance is too large and twisted, it should be replaced or repaired.

  4. Long-term overload use should be avoided to avoid operational accidents.

  5. In order to ensure the safe operation of the universal coupling and prevent the cross package from being stuck and causing the cross package to twist and fly out and hurt people, the main shaft connected by the cross package must be fully lubricated, and the main shaft bearing should be replaced regularly. Appropriate safety protection measures must be adopted in various places where the shaft drive causes personal and equipment accidents.
