The star coupling consists of multiple sets of diaphragms which are interleaved with the two half couplings by bolts. Each partition consists of a number of blocks. Diaphragm is divided into connecting rod type and integral, different shapes.
The star coupling compensates the relative displacement of the two connecting axes by the elastic deformation of the diaphragm. It is a high performance flexible coupling with metal elastic elements. It does not require lubrication, compact structure, high strength, long service life, does not rotate, and is not affected by temperature and oil pollution. It is acid-resistant and alkali-resistant, and is suitable for shafting transmission under high temperature, high speed and corrosive media conditions. Star coupling is widely used in shafting transmission of various mechanical equipment. Marine high-speed power transmission system has been widely used in high-speed shafting after dynamic balance.
Compared with the gear coupling, the star coupling has no relative sliding, no lubrication, no sealing, no noise, basically no maintenance, and is more convenient to manufacture and can partially replace the gear coupling. Star coupling has been widely used. In practical applications, it is usually connected with the intermediate shaft to improve the compensation performance of the biaxial bias.
The rotation of the two shafts connected with the coupling should be strictly concentric, so the alignment and alignment should be carried out during the installation process, otherwise it will cause great stress to the coupling, produce a lot of noise, shorten the service life of the star coupling, and seriously affect the normal operation of the shaft, bearings and other components on the shaft. The finding of star coupling is one of the important work links in the process of installation and maintenance.
1. For initial alignment, use a knife ruler and clearance gauge to measure the misalignment of the coupling, and use a wedge guide or clearance gauge to measure the unevenness of the coupling end face. The method is suitable for initial alignment or elastic coupling with low speed and low accuracy requirements.
2. Dial indicator calibration Measure the misalignment and parallelism of two half-star couplings using a dial indicator or special calibration tool. The four points should be used as the test base points, and the two half couplings should be tested against each other. This method is suitable for rotary equipment with high speed, rigid connection and high precision.
The coupling is the middle connecting part of each moving mechanism, which directly affects the normal operation of each moving mechanism. Therefore, please note:
① The axial deflection and radial displacement of the coupling shall not exceed the specified value, so as not to affect its transmission performance. Elastic coupling
② The bolt of the star coupling shall not be loosened or damaged.
(3) Gear couplings and transverse sliding couplings should be lubricated regularly, and grease should be added every 2-3 months to avoid serious wear and serious consequences of gear teeth.

⑤ The star coupling does not allow cracks. If there are cracks, they need to be replaced.
⑥ The key of the coupling should be closely matched and should not be loosened.
7 Gear coupling tooth thickness wear. When the lifting mechanism exceeds 15% of the original tooth thickness, the operating mechanism exceeds 25%, and the broken tooth is scrapped.
If the elastic ring of the star coupling and the seal ring of the gear coupling are damaged or aged, they should be replaced in time.
The coupling installation error should be strictly controlled. The installation error generally does not exceed 1/2 of the allowable compensation amount.
Check the alignment of the two connecting axes after operation, and the relative displacement should not be greater than the allowable compensation. Reducing relative displacement as much as possible can effectively extend the service life of the connecting machine or star coupling.
