Product Features of Roller Chain Couplings
2022-11-15

In the design process of roller chain couplings in recent years, manufacturers mainly use a chain or two sprocket half couplings. A common chain meshes with two parallel sprockets with the same number of teeth at the same time, realizing the connection of the two halves of the coupling. The roller chain coupling can be made of double-row sleeve roller chain or single-row sleeve roller chain or toothed chain. The drum-shaped roller can improve the performance of the coupling to compensate the relative displacement of the two shafts. At this time, the allowable relative angular displacement of the two axes can reach 3° to 5°. The chain coupling that uses the toothed chain has a higher working speed.
Roller Chain Couplings

The roller chain coupling is characterized by relatively simple structure, compact size, light weight, easy maintenance, assembly and disassembly, and no axial movement during assembly and disassembly. The relative radial displacement and angular displacement of the two shafts can be compensated due to the elastic deformation of the original parts such as the chain plate and the gap between the chain and the sprocket teeth. But when it is used for high-speed and reversible transmission, it will cause impact due to the gap between the chain link and the chain teeth. This type of coupling can work under high temperature, humidity and dusty conditions, but it is not suitable for the connection of vertical shafts.

In order to ensure that the roller chain coupling will not be contaminated by external dust during use and ensure that the parts of the coupling can work in a good lubricated state to reduce wear and tear, a cover is usually required. Under normal circumstances, the casing can be made into a split type and connected with bolts. A sealing device should be used at the joint with the half coupling. The load carrying capacity of a roller chain coupling is often determined by the pressure of the chain rollers and sprocket teeth and the shear strength of the chain pin.
