Introduction:
Universal coupling is used for elastic connection of main and slave shafting of power machinery. Circumferential uniform elastic element 1 is connected to the main and slave hub body of the coupling 4 and 5, and the helical ring elastomer of the elastic element composed of multiple strands of steel wire stranded by metal splints constitutes the annular free deformation space between the main and slave hub bodies of the universal coupling, and the coupling master and slave hub bodies form the elastic displacement compensation feature through the annular free deformation space in the axial, radial and axial inclination directions.
When there is some failure of the universal coupling we use, we should start from the following aspects:
1) The host elastic shock absorber sinks, causing the shafting to diverging errors, resulting in additional torque! This possibility is great for new ships.
2) Coupling rubber component fever fracture accident;
3) Matching problem: only the various equipment in the shafting, such as diesel engines, couplings, gear boxes, other parts of the shafting, propellers, etc., have good design and complement and support each other, and improve the design and manufacturing level, so that the designed ship is a ship in the sense of the meaning. As long as the calm analysis can find the cause of the universal coupling damage.
Universal coupling selection:
1, due to manufacturing, installation, load deformation and temperature changes and other reasons, when the installation adjustment, it is difficult to keep the two axes strictly aligned. There is degree of displacement in x and Y directions and skew Angle CI. When the radial displacement is large, the slider coupling can be selected, and the universal coupling can be selected for the connection of the angular displacement is large or intersecting two axes. When the two axes produce a large additional relative displacement during the working process, the flexible coupling should be selected.
2. The working speed of the coupling and the centrifugal force caused by it. For high-speed transmission shaft, a balanced coupling, such as a diaphragm coupling, should be selected, rather than a sliding block coupling with eccentricity.
3, the size and nature of the torque required to be transmitted and the requirements for the vibration buffer function. For example, for high-power and heavy-duty transmission, a gear coupling can be selected. For the transmission of severe impact loads or requiring torsional vibration of shafting, tire couplings can be selected.
